South Carolina Petroleum Marketers Association is pleased to offer DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation Training. In accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49, Subpart H, §172.700-172.704 (Formerly Docket HM-126F), our course will include the following elements:
•1. General awareness/familiarization
•2. Function-specific, training
•3. Safety
•4. Security awareness
•5. In-depth security training, if a security plan is required
Each participant will receive a copy of the DOT Hazardous Materials Pocketguide and the Emergency Response Guidebook. These books must be kept in the vehicle when hazardous materials are being transported. We’ll also include Security Plan Requirements, Development and Templates.
Persons designated as “Hazardous Materials” employees have 90 days to receive this training. Retraining is required at least every 3 years. Drivers should be aware that additional endorsements may be required by the State Department of Motor Vehicles for each hazmat employee who will operate a motor vehicle. For example, Hazardous Material employees who drive and transport certain quantities of Hazardous Materials may be required to have a commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a Hazardous Material endorsement.
All participants will be required to complete a written exam and must answer at least 80% of the questions correctly to receive a certificate of course completion. Our instructor will issue a certificate for each "graduate" with the following information:
•1. Hazmat employee's name
•2. Completion date of most recent training
•3. Training Materials (copy, description, or location)
•4. Name and address of hazmat trainer
•5. Certification that the hazmat employee has been trained and tested.
Certificates will be mailed to participants following the seminar.
